GOA MARICULTURE POLICY 2020
Goa is the First State to come up with the Mariculture policy. Mariculture is defined as a specialized branch of aquaculture involving the cultivation, management and harvesting of marine organisms in their natural environment (including Estuarine, brackish, coastal and offshore waters) or in enclosures such as cages, pens, tanks, ponds or raceways or channels. The range of organisms cultured includes seaweeds, mollusks, crustaceans and fish. Under Mariculture policy, Open Sea Cage culture is promoted widely in Goa.
