It is to state that Indian Coast Guard in coordination with Department of Fisheries conducts Community Interaction Programme twice in a month with Fishermen for sensitizing fishermen about Coastal Security and Safety of Fishermen at sea.

In year 2019-20, community interaction programmes at various places i.e. Jetties, Panchayats and one Special Community Interaction Programme at Panjim, Tiswadi – Goa were conducted successfully. As the Coastal Security Measures enhances day by day Security Agencies expect more and more fishermen to be sensitize. A total of 10 nos. of Programmes were conducted during the financial year 2019-20.

For sensitizing fishermen about security and safety at sea, the Department in co-ordination with INS Gomantak (Navy) Vasco conducted Sensitization Programmes for fishermen. A total of 6 nos. of sensitization Programmes were conducted during the financial year 2019-20.

Short Term Training Programmes are imparted to fisher youth, fish farmers, entrepreneurs etc. interested in gaining in-hand training as well as theoretical knowledge in Fisheries oriented aspects. The training is held at Fisheries Training Centre, Ela Dauji, Old Goa. The details of training programmes held is as under:

Six Months training programme was conducted at Fishermen Training Center, Ela Dauji, Goa, commencing from July 2019 to December 2019. A total of 14 students benefited during the training.

An event called Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2019 was held in Goa on 17/10/2019 to 19/10/2020 at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Panaji. The objective towards the said event is for development in key areas such as innovation, sustainability, industries, technology, youth and skill development, knowledge sharing and networking.

The Department has participated in the said event with department stall inorder to expand its scope in fisheries sector by including innovative concepts to attract more participation from fisheries stake holders.

This Department celebrates “Narali Poornima” Festival (Official function) in the office premises every year. Department had celebrated the same on 14/08/2019. Duing Narali Poornima day, coconut pooja is performed followed by emersion of coconut in the sea.

After this function, the Annual Satyanarayan Pooja is performed in the premises and devotees are served with Maha Prasad. The function gets over after the sunset.
