The Department has entrusted the maintenance and operation of Reservoir Cage Culture to the “The Goan Farmers Club Sanguem, Sanguem Goa” comprising of 21 members.
The Department has installed 48 no. of cages in the Chapoli Reservoir, Canacona and is stocked with Pangasius sutchi fish seed. Pangasius sutchi is one of the most suitable species for reservoir cage culture because of its fast growth, white flesh, and adaptability to the cage environment and also fetches high price in markets. The stocked fish is cultured for a period of 7-8 months and floating fish feed was provided as supplementary feed. A total of 120 tonnes fish was harvested at the end of the culture period.
